We are Japanese people living in the U.S. who are concerned about the recent movement to change the Japanese Constitution. The Constitution that renounced war enacted 60 years ago.
Now, Japanese government is trying to change it in order to make Japan again "a country that can make war." The reason is not for defending Japan but to make Japan join the "preemptive" wars led by the U.S., like the U. K. in the Iraq war.
We believe that the world's trend must not be to use military power to solve disputes between nations but to use diplomatic negotiations. The Japanese Peace Constitution embodies that human ideal and future for the world.
Japanese people, even living in the U.S. have the power to defend Japanese Peace Constitution. Please pass this info to your Japanese spouse/family/friends.
Our web site features the info of the Japanese Constitution. We welcome you to share it and hope to work together for the world peace.

Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution is a "No War" clause. It went into effect on May 3, 1947.
Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes.
In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.
